2019 Cloud & Communications Outlook
Demand for high-quality wireless and cloud services remains high as consumers and enterprises continue to reap huge benefits from usage. Going forward, we expect enterprises to accelerate migration of computing workloads into the cloud to take advantage of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, the Internet of Things, Security, and Blockchain.
Additionally we present a list of key questions investors will look for answers in 2019, including:
- How is 5G going to impact the industry? Smartphones will have 5G this year and fixed wireless equipment next. Does this enable wireless to cannibalize wire-line data?
- What will Disney and AT&T's new Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) services look like? Can they truly compete with Netflix? Will consumers pay for 3-6 SVOD services?
- Will new Over-The-Top (OTT) gaming services evolve? We think the race is on to build a live streaming OTT gaming platform. Microsoft and Amazon are the leading contenders.
- Can wireless pricing continue to grow? This is probably the number one factor for communications stock performance.
