Ari Wald's Big Numbers - 2022 Outlook
Oppenheimer Chief Market Technician Ari Wald predicts the S&P 500 to ping-pong its way toward 5,100 in 2022. Midterm year headwinds suggest a 10+% pullback along the way. A June or September quarter bottom would set the stage for a meaningful opportunity ahead of the “sweet spot” of the US Presidential cycle which starts in the December quarter.
Keeping with one of our long-standing traditions, Oppenheimer offers our year-ahead outlook by identifying what we expect to be 10 of the most important market numbers for 2022. To highlight a few of them:
- 1.35% as key support for the 10-year US Treasury Yield
- $1,750/oz as key support for the price of Gold
- $77/barrel as midpoint for the price of WTI Crude Oil
- 4,275 as downside risk for the S&P 500 Index
