Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET), the leading connectivity cloud company, today announced the acquisition of BastionZero, a Zero Trust infrastructure access platform. This acquisition aims to enhance remote access to core IT systems for customers of Cloudflare One, the company’s secure access service edge (SASE) platform.
By integrating BastionZero, Cloudflare One's capabilities are strengthened, providing IT and security teams with Zero Trust controls for infrastructure like servers, Kubernetes clusters, and databases. This broadens Cloudflare’s VPN replacement solution to cover infrastructure resources, in addition to apps and networks. As a result, security teams can centralize management of more aspects of their hybrid IT environment while maintaining standard Zero Trust practices to keep DevOps teams productive and secure.
With conventional virtual private network (VPN) security configurations, developers and systems architects are provided with overly permissive and long-lasting access to a company’s most sensitive systems, including servers and databases. In a hybrid work environment, this approach is increasingly costly, risky, and outdated, impeding the ability to securely deploy new systems and respond to a rapidly changing business landscape.
Adding BastionZero’s technology to Cloudflare One will give hybrid and remote IT teams access to their most critical assets remotely, resulting in reduced complexity as well as increased security, compliance, and control.
