Biography
Mike Margarites brings over twenty-five years of experience in the financial service industry to his clients. He enjoys helping clients create and implement investment strategies tailored for their individual needs. He focuses on making “one-stop” investment recommendations that incorporate asset allocation with retirement and estate planning concepts. For his institutional and corporate clients, he helps develop pension plan designs.
Before Mike joined Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. as a Financial Advisor in early 1994, he worked with Cigna Securities Private Clients Group at HSBC for three years and AXA (Equitable Life) for seven years.
A graduate of Long Island University with a BS in Accounting, Mike spent the first part of his career working with CPA firms on Long Island and in New York City. Although he does not now practice, he earned the designation Certified Public Accountant in December 1986 and has also earned the Designation of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. in July 1990. He also holds the General Securities Representative License (Series 7), the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination (Series 63) and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination (Series 65). He is also licensed for Life and Health Insurance in the states of Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey and New York. Mike is also a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the Hellenic American Bankers Association (H.A.B.A.) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
He resides in Great Neck, NY. His hobbies include skiing, fitness and travel.
