Monday Morning Update

9-14-26

Good Morning,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Fall is definitely in the air this morning here in Michigan!

Markets continue to experience volatility as concerns surrounding artificial intelligence become more pronounced. Significant news emerged over the weekend when Anthropic CEO, Dario Amodei, called for a deliberate slowdown in the advancement of the most powerful AI models. Shortly thereafter, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and xAI CEO Elon Musk voiced support for that direction.

The primary concern is that AI capabilities may be advancing faster than the industry's ability to safely manage and control them. As a result, investors are beginning to question the sustainability of current AI related spending levels and what the path forward may look like for the sector.

The key market catalyst this week will come on Wednesday with the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. Current expectations suggest a 0.25% rate increase is likely; however, in my opinion, the future path of monetary policy will be more important than the actual rate move itself. With new Fed Chair Warsh at the helm, nothing should be considered a foregone conclusion, and markets will be analyzing every word closely.

With Q2 earnings season now behind us, markets are becoming increasingly headline driven. Given the current environment, I continue to favor more of a value tilt within stocks. At the same time, market conditions can change quickly, reinforcing the importance of time in the market rather than trying to time the market.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional questions or comments.

Have a great week!
