Wally began his career in financial services in 1986. He and Chuck Posternak became associates in 1991, and Dennis Baum joined the team in 2012. Together they focus on providing a wide array of financial and retirement strategies to individuals, families and corporations.
Wally’s areas of expertise include security analysis and valuation, portfolio management and construction, all types of financial strategies, and risk analysis. The estate, legacy and trust services offered through the Oppenheimer Trust Co. of Delaware have also become a major focus of his practice.
Wally graduated from the Boston University School of Management in 1980 with a degree in Finance and Marketing. He subsequently received his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1993 from the CFA institute and he also holds his life and annuity insurance licenses.
Wally grew up in Manhattan and has been living in Westport, CT since 1996. He has three grown children and has been in a long term relationship since 2002.
Outside of work, Wally enjoys tennis, golf, sailing, and skiing. He also has a passion for automobiles; in 1977, he founded and operated a BMW repair and restoration shop in Boston.
Chuck Posternak began his career in the investment field over 50 years ago. He joined Oppenheimer in 1988; prior to that he spent 15 years advising high net worth families and institutions as a Partner at LF Rothschild.
Chuck grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts and graduated with honors from Colby College in 1961.
Chuck has served on the board of the Alzheimer’s Association of New York and is currently on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC, where he has been involved for almost 50 years. In his spare time he enjoys sailing, tennis, and travel to developing countries.
He currently resides in New York City and Watermill, NY with his wife of 45 years. He has one son who is married with two young daughters.
Alex focuses on providing planning strategies to high net worth families and organizations, including non-profit and for-profit businesses. He strongly believes in collaboration and in investing with specific, measurable and attainable goals in mind.
Prior to joining Oppenheimer, Alex was a Financial Advisor for Wells Fargo.
He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and currently lives in Manhattan with his wife and son.
Cooper began his career at Wells Fargo Advisors as a Client Associate in 2016 before transitioning into the role of a Financial Advisor providing advice for families and small businesses. In 2019, Cooper moved to New York City to join the Davis, Posternak, Baum, Smith Group at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. and takes pride in working for a firm that puts clients first.
Cooper graduated Cum Laude from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University.
In his spare time, Cooper is passionate about travelling, and has visited over 20 countries including Denmark, Thailand and Egypt. He also enjoys attending indie-rock concerts, reading, and meeting with his friends at up-and-coming restaurants.
Michael works closely with clients to communicate and execute the team’s investment process, asset allocation strategies, and customized wealth plans.
Michael Locher joined Oppenheimer in 2010. Prior to joining Oppenheimer, he worked for a private equity commercial real estate investment firm in Norfolk, Virginia conducting financial analysis and acquisition and disposition support for office and multi-family residential and property transactions.
Michael holds a BA in Economics from the College of William and Mary and an MBA in Finance from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University. Michael is also a CFA Charterholder and member of CFA Society New York. Michael currently lives in New York City with his wife and two children.
Ralph DiSomma has over 15 years of experience working at various global financial institutions. Whether it was opening a new account, settling a foreign equity or executing a futures trade, the focus on delivering an exceptional client experience has always remained a core focus of his approach. Throughout his career, Ralph has come across many different scenarios and has always strived to provide the client with the best possible strategies for their specific situation.
After graduating from Bernard Baruch College in Manhattan, Ralph began his financial career working on a commodity trading desk. He joined Oppenheimer in February of 2017.
Ralph grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he currently resides with his wife and three children. Most of his free time is spent on various activities involving his children. Ralph enjoys cooking, gardening and just spending time with friends and family.
After graduating Cum Laude from City University of New York Hunter College in 2017 with a B.A in Economics, Messay started his career in a sales support role at a private firm based in NYC before transitioning into finance as a private banker at Chase Bank. During his tenure at Chase, he learned the importance of bridging the gap between retail banking and investments to create long-term strategies for individuals and their families. This solidified his passion in building relationships with clients, helping them create more deliberate financial decisions.
In February 2022, Messay accepted an associate role in client services at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. that gave him an opportunity to work with the Grand Central Group.
Messay was born and raised in Queens, New York. Both parents are retired teachers and he has a six year old Havanese. Messay loves to travel, try different restaurants, exercise and is a huge sports fan.
