Exclusive Financial Advisor to Carbon Underwriting

Oppenheimer Europe Ltd. acted as Exclusive Financial Advisor to Carbon Underwriting on its significant strategic investment from Apiary Capital.
On 17th July 2023, Apiary Capital LLP ("Apiary") completed a significant strategic investment in Carbon Underwriting Holdings Ltd ("Carbon"), a UK based specialist Managing General Underwriter (MGU) and Lloyd's Syndicate. Oppenheimer Europe Ltd. ("Oppenheimer") acted as exclusive financial advisor to Carbon.
This transaction reinforces Oppenheimer’s position as the M&A advisor of choice in the Insurance market for founder-owned businesses, both at Lloyd’s and in the Broking and MGA sectors. This follows Oppenheimer advising QBE on the sale of selected Irish commercial insurance portfolios to Ascot Group, BDB Holdings Ltd on its sale to Brown & Brown, Inc. and Agora Syndicate on the sale to IQUW, a Lloyd’s syndicate owned by Aquiline and Abry Partners.
Carbon Underwriting is a class agnostic MGU and Lloyd’s Syndicate driving transformation in the international coverholder market. It operates as an Underwriting and Data Lead with a keen focus on coverholder partnership. Carbon is supported by its proprietary technology platform ‘Graphene’ which presents Underwriters and coverholders with superior data that motivates profitable and informed underwriting decisions. The MGU acts as an incubator, enhancer and springboard for MGAs to encourage accretive and profitable growth.
Apiary Capital is a UK private equity firm investing in the education, healthcare, financial, business and technology services sectors. The firm seeks to acquire platform companies in attractive markets and supports management teams to accelerate growth.
