Program overview

The Summer Internship Program at Oppenheimer provides participants a unique opportunity to learn about the financial services industry and different business channels within the Firm by working side-by-side with seasoned professionals. Our interns gain practical experience of working in an office environment and the Program is intended to bridge their formal academic education with real world application.

Oppenheimer’s eight to ten week summer internship is designed to fully immerse bright, motivated students in the day-to-day activities of one of our departments. The program includes ongoing information sessions where you’ll learn about our Firm culture and history, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of Oppenheimer. You will also receive department-specific training designed to help you succeed in your role.

Oppenheimer internships are real jobs with real impact. As an intern, you will receive actual responsibilities that come with the same expectations as a full-time employee. Additionally, this experience will give you the chance to work alongside our industry leaders.

Additional details for each of these applications can be found below. For the Business Segments and Corporate Infrastructure application, you must indicate your area of interest within these groups. Please review the descriptions carefully before completing an application.

To apply for a Summer Internship position in Business Segments and Corporate Infrastructure, candidates are currently pursuing a college or university degree with a graduation date between May 2027 and December 2028. We are looking for students with an outstanding record of academic achievement of a 3.2 GPA or higher, demonstrated contributions to campus or community activities, strong communication and problem-solving skills and an interest in Oppenheimer and the financial services industry.

Equities
The Equities group is charged with meeting expectations of our corporate and institutional clients. Interns with this team will participate in research, sales and trading and various processes for the markets Oppenheimer serves.

Wealth Management (Asset Management)
The Asset Management group focuses on helping Financial Advisors and their clients choose from a selection of advisory programs. As part of the group, you will learn about the due diligence process and what goes into choosing the proper investment vehicles for clients.

Compliance
The Compliance department leads our Firm-wide compliance effort by formulating and implementing policies to manage the Firm’s regulatory and reputational risk. Interns working in Compliance will be immersed in daily regulatory and monitoring activities.

Finance & Accounting
The Finance & Accounting Group (“F&A”) is responsible for financial, regulatory, and tax reporting for Oppenheimer globally. F&A also handles accounts payable, payroll, human resources and benefits for the Firm. As an intern in F&A, you will have a significant role in contributing to the mission of the group in providing accurate and timely processing. Interns will also be reporting of financial data and information to various constituencies both internally and externally.

Human Resources
The Human Resources department partners with employees and business leaders across Oppenheimer to support talent acquisition, performance reporting and management, and professional development. Human Resources plays a critical role in attracting, developing, and retaining talent while supporting the Firm's strategic objectives. Interns in this department will gain exposure to a broad range of HR functions and contribute to initiatives that support employees and fellow interns throughout their careers at Oppenheimer.

Internal Audit
The Internal Audit team evaluates the firm's processes, controls, and risk management framework to help ensure compliance, efficiency, and effective governance. The intern will learn and assist with audit testing, reviewing business and technology controls, researching risks, documenting findings, and helping ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Information Technology
From automated trading, managing data, risk analysis and safeguarding information, our commitment to best-in-class technology provides us with a competitive advantage. Interns in this department will be at the center of our business in a dynamic environment that demands innovative, strategic thinking and immediate, realistic solutions.

Marketing
Our Marketing interns play an active role in supporting campaigns, creating content, analyzing market trends, and enhancing client engagement initiatives. Through meaningful projects and mentorship, interns gain insight into the intersection of marketing and financial services while developing professional skills that prepare them for future careers.

Operations
Primary functions of the Operations department include the design and management of products, services and processes integral to the Firm. Interns in Operations will help the department execute equity, mutual fund, options and fixed income transactions for clients and registered representatives.

Oppenheimer’s Investment Banking professionals provide strategic advisory services and capital market strategies for emerging growth and mid-sized businesses. Interns will learn the methodology for helping companies address their strategic and financial goals through a variety of market conditions.

The Investment Banking internship program at Oppenheimer is for candidates currently pursuing a college or university degree who are entering their senior year. We are looking for students with an outstanding record of academic achievement of a 3.5 GPA or higher and a strong interest in the financial services industry.
